Summary:Beginning July 1, 2010 all new federal student loans will be issued through the Direct Lending program offered through the U.S. Government.
Details:

On Thursday, March 26, 2010, Congress passed legislation that will eliminate the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP).

As a FFELP lender, all pending disbursements or loans guaranteed prior to June 30, 2010 will be guaranteed, originated and disbursed through Summit Credit Union.

Summit will continue to offer educational assistance through the FFELP program until July 1, 2010. Visit our Student Loans section for additional information on our current education assistance programs.
