Mary and Josh's Journey:

Coupons are the way to go

As we have written about before, we love going out to eat. However, eating out can add up and eat away (pun intended) at your entertainment budget. Because of this, Josh and I have limited our going out to eat to once a week. Even if you are limiting the amount you and your family eat out, like us, you can also frequently take advantage of the restaurant’s deals to save money.

Culver’s is our go-to restaurant each week. They make great food fresh while using locally obtained food. And…the kids love it! If you have kids, you know you enjoy your food that much better when your children are also enjoying their food. Well, Culver’s has a great coupon system when you buy their kid’s meals. Each kid’s meal comes with a Scoopie token and Free Scoop token. If you save 10 Scoopie tokens, you earn a free kid’s meal! That is always exciting when you come to pay your bill for your family’s lunch/dinner and it’s cheaper than usual. You can also use the Free Scoop token for a free scoop of ice cream – or custard (even with one topping)! One of our other tricks is to always save the Free Scoop tokens because we don’t always get ice cream, so then we end up having enough for Josh and myself when we go to grab ice cream.

These little ideas may not seem like they’d help a ton, but trust me, when you are living on a tight “entertainment” budget, any money you save helps and gives you a bit more breathing room each month.
