Jasmine's Journey:
COVID vs My Life
COVID-19 has impacted many families, business and people. Everyone has their opinion or discusses the issues around COVID, vaccines, masks or no masks. My family and I have been very fortunate to not get COVID these last two years especially since my middle child has a high-risk health issue.
This past week, COVID has affected my family financially. I was exposed to COVID at my workplace. I am required to quarantine, but because I didn’t test positive, I don’t qualify for COVID pay. The great thing is that my family and I are still negative for COVID, but now I’ve missed a couple of days at work which were unpaid. This will affect my income but I’m trying to stay positive.
This month, I am eliminating my takeout expenses and holding off on making purchases for the renovation until the end of the month. I have scheduled an appointment for the plumber to provide a quote on the issue in my half bath. After I get the quote, I will be able to have a better idea on next steps. I contacted the Homeowners Association regarding information on the plumbing issue, which wasn’t much of help. My middle child’s birthday is next week, and my birthday is next month, so I plan on having something at the house instead of going out somewhere.
The moral of the story is that sometimes there are roadblocks that interfere in your everyday plans. Sometimes we have plans that may need to be rescheduled or rearranged. Stay positive and continue to strive. My family and I have our health and I am grateful for that.
