Jasmine's Journey:

Having a budget and sticking to it!

Project Money has been a very beneficial change to my lifestyle. I have created a budget, monitored my bank accounts often and eliminated some bad habits when it comes to spending money. I can proudly say I decreased my takeout expenses and started making home-cooked meals.

During my renovation, I ran into a couple of issues. The start of my half bath renovation has come to a halt due to plumbing issues. I started with a $1,000 renovation budget and then continued allocating $100 each month towards this budget. I am now realizing that I may have to take a step back and re‐plan the execution of getting the house finished. I know for sure I have the find a plumber to see if I can get this toilet drain rerouted. After taking up those costs, I will then come up with a plan on how I will finish the house.

Because I’m doing most of the renovation by myself or with the help of a family member, I have saved tons of money by watching YouTube. Most of the projects around my house are cosmetic only, such as needing a fresh coat of paint and new flooring (which I have been doing by myself). My major projects around the house are the full bathroom and kitchen. I have not had to pull out of my savings yet and even though I’ve been sticking to my budget, I will have to reconfigure it to better suit my current situation.
